The Office of Community Services (OCS) in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is proud to host the Assets for Independence 2010 Conference and Learning Academies from July 27-30, 2010 in Washington, DC.
This series of events includes a two-day all grantee conference followed by a diverse set of learning academies. We invite all grantees and subgrantees to join us for a gathering that will energize, inspire, and provide cutting-edge knowledge and tools for combating poverty and promoting self-sufficiency through asset-building.
Features of the AFI 2010 Conference and Learning Academies include:
AFI All Grantee Conference - July 27-28th
Keynote Speakers. Hear from leaders and policy makers with cutting edge ideas on poverty issues and asset-building strategies including individual development accounts (IDAs) and related services.
Conference Workshops. Take part in sessions on topics including managing your IDA projects in today's economy, getting your message out to funders and the public, providing effective financial education, serving special populations, collecting and managing data, and more.
AFI Learning Academies - July 28-30th
Intensive training on innovative strategies to increase the success of your IDA project. The Academies are as follows:
- AFI Action Planning for New Grantees
- AFI Leadership
- Working with People with Disabilities
- Financial Education, basic and advanced
Networking Opportunities. Engage with other grantees to share resources, ideas, and tools.
